"I was thinking about picking up a T744 since I don't ever plan on having more than 5.1 speakers...1) Will I be able to plug my PS3 into my TV by HDMI, and send 5.1 sound out through the optical in a format the T744 can handle...I'm about to order some PSB Alpha T1 towers and plug them into an old Rotel 1050 I'm borrowing, but my next step is to upgrade the receiver..." read more »

"With good interconnect cables coming from a good source, there is NO LACK of detail in this amplifier, as is easily examined through the headphone jack...There is no B facility speaker switch; so you bi-wire 2 sets of good cables to a good speaker and get amazing sound...NOT equiped with PHONO in (for turntable) Very good sound,a great receiver for low budget customers..." read more »

"I have a NAD C740 receiver that eventually stopped powering on...They claimed that this part was no longer available and therefore could not fix it...I'm a little bit puzzled here, you mention a, quote: "Oscillator XTAL 701 in NAD C740 xcvr...I I have a SM for a Nad C730 Receiver, wonder if it's close enough to the C740 to be used for anything..." read more »

"I am currently having good luck with solid core cooker-cable from Home Depot...Well, NAD has done it in the form of NAD's new DVD-Receiver, the wonderfully named L53...Not too bad for a hundred dollars Canadian actually, particularly if you factor in that, with the current exchange rate, it cost less than an American C note...And if hand luggage was all I was allowed for electronics, I would be very happy to pack NAD's L53 under my arm..." read more »

"As for any perceived lack of bass response with the L75, I second cantelever in that it is almost certainly a question of cartridge...Check your cartridge specifications for the recommended value of capacitance...The L75 hails from a different era, and I think that should be taken into account when assessing it...The cost to manufacture the platter alone in the L75 today would be astronomical--especially if it were made in Switzerland...So, starting to produce L75's again in 2002 would probably not make any kind of financial sense..." read more »

"Does anyone have circuit diagrams for the NAD Silverline S100 pre-amp...The 317 still works, but the relays (switching relays for the inputs) are buzzing...I'm not terribly proficient, the Silverline was sold "as new" (which is a very generous description) but clearly stated "sold as seen" untested by the vendor (i.e...You can contact them for an estimate of repairing the S100..." read more »
