Panasonic's HDC-SD5 opts for the relatively new AVCHD, recording to SD cards, and as such it's one of the smallest camcorders you can buy...The SD5 manages to fit a trio of CCDs onboard...The SD5 also takes still images, but only at 1,920 x 1,080...The SD5 has no accessory shoe, microphone input or headphone output, and what looks like a focus ring...

Compact size...Great HD footage....Limited capacity...Only shoots in AVCHD....Advertisement With a smart black body that'll fit comfortably in the palm of any hand, it looks way tasty, while simple menus make for marvellously hassle-free shooting...We tend to spray the word "sexy" around like so much bodily fluid, but it is, we swear 100 per cent true about the SD5...You can fit...

From the relative uniformity of MiniDV over the last decade, camcorders now come in a bewildering range of formats...Whilst the SX5 has many commendable features, the SD5 has one it couldn't possibly boast - a very compact and svelte form...With optical image stabilisation as well, the SD5 has potential to punch well above its size...The similarity in names might lead you to believe...
