With its comparatively large 16-color, 120- by 160-pixel backlit display, the Magellan Meridian Color adds a whole new dimension to GPS receivers...Yes, it's the most expensive of the devices reviewed here, as well as the biggest, bulkiest, and heaviest, but it displays in color...In addition, the Meridian Color has the second largest expandable memory capacity...
No built in auto routing - was kind of dismayed to find it didn't have this originally, but with the promised software upgrade, it should be good...External connector is slow to connect disconnect - you have to turn a screw to connect the external car power or PC interface cables, which takes 60 seconds or so, maybe 30 when you get good...Display - the display was pretty good, and the color...
Great for geocaching, good price basemap is pretty much worthless I bought this unit to use primarily to go geocaching (see www.geocaching.com for information...The screen is a good size, but not as large as more modern, in-car navigation systems...I recommend using Ni-MH batteries with an 1800 ma or higher rating...
